A playlist fills silence. A pianist changes how a room feels about the company that invited it. Here is the difference, and how to plan for it.

By Dr. Maria Pisarenko, DMA · concert pianist in Las Vegas · October 2026
Las Vegas hosts more receptions, client dinners and convention evenings than almost any city in the world. Most of them have background music; very few have a musician in the room. That is exactly why a live pianist is noticed. Guests walk past the piano, stop for a moment, ask what the piece is. The evening becomes an occasion rather than a function.
Is there a piano? Many hotel ballrooms, private dining rooms and lounges have one; exhibition halls usually do not. A fine acoustic piano is my ideal setting; if there is none, tell me early and we will agree the best arrangement together, from hiring a piano in for the day to another option.
How long? Two hours is the minimum, with travel and breaks included in the booked time. That covers most receptions and dinners; a longer evening is simply quoted longer.
When does the music happen? Usually during arrival and the first drinks, through dinner, and between speakers. Send me the run of show and the programme is built around it.
